Frequently Asked Questions

Building a custom home comes with a lot of questions.
We’ve outlined some of the most common ones below to help you better understand how we work, what to expect, and how to approach the process from the beginning.
Pricing & Budget
How much does it cost to build a custom home?
Every project is different, and pricing depends on factors like size, design, site conditions, and selections.
Rather than giving rough or misleading numbers, we focus on developing a realistic budget based on your specific project during the early stages of the process.
Can you give me a price per square foot?
Price per square foot can be misleading in custom home construction.
Two homes with the same square footage can vary significantly in cost depending on layout, materials, and level of detail.
We prefer to establish a budget based on your specific plans and goals rather than relying on generalized numbers.
When can you give me an exact price?
A well-supported price comes after plans are developed, selections are defined, and scope is clearly outlined.
This is done during our pre-construction phase, which allows us to provide accurate pricing and avoid surprises later in the process.
Process
Do I need to have plans before contacting you?
No.
Some clients come to us early in the process, and we help develop their vision into a complete set of plans. Others already have plans, and we work with them to refine and align those plans with their budget and construction approach.
How long does the process take?
The timeline varies depending on the complexity of the project.
Pre-construction typically takes a few months, while construction timelines depend on size, scope, and site conditions. Construction generally takes 8 months to 1 year to complete.
We provide more specific timelines as the project becomes better defined.
What is pre-construction, and why is it important?
Pre-construction is where the majority of planning happens.
During this phase, we develop plans, refine the scope, coordinate with trades, and align the project with your budget.
This step replaces guesswork with clarity and is one of the most important parts of a successful project.
Building & Quality
What makes your homes different from other builders?
We focus on what matters most—structure, systems, and long-term performance.
While finishes are important, the real difference is in how the home is built behind the walls. Our approach prioritizes durability, efficiency, and attention to detail at every stage.
Do you build on my land?
Yes.
Most of our projects are built on client-owned land, and we begin with a site visit to evaluate the property and discuss the best approach for your home.
Do you handle everything from start to finish?
Yes.
We guide you through the entire process—from initial planning and pre-construction through final build—ensuring everything is coordinated and aligned along the way.
Do you take on remodels or only new custom homes?
We primarily focus on custom homes and large-scale renovations where planning, execution, and long-term value matter most.
For smaller remodels or quick cosmetic updates, we may not be the best fit—and we’re always happy to be honest about that upfront.
Working Together
How do we get started?
The best first step is to schedule a site visit or initial conversation.
From there, we’ll learn more about your project, discuss next steps, and determine whether we’re a good fit to work together.
How many projects do you take on each year?
We take on a limited number of projects each year to ensure each home receives the level of attention and execution it deserves.
